Who is Fawn Armstrong

Meet Your Next District Court Judge

Fawn Armstrong is the mother of a 13-year-old daughter, Ava, and the wife of criminal defense attorney, Christopher Shemke. They live in Saline (Pittsfield Twp) with their three dogs – Rogue, Mika, and Wyatt – and their cat, Oona. She is the oldest of six children and they grew up on a dirt road in Marine City, MI. She attended Northern Michigan University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She also spent eight years in the Army Reserves and served one tour of duty in Iraq.

Fawn Armstrong has served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Washtenaw County for ten years. She has served in all 14A, 14B, and 15th District Courts and spent three years in the Appellate Division, where she diligently argued cases before Michigan’s Court of Appeals. One of her responsibilities included training law enforcement agencies in Washtenaw County. Fawn is currently assigned to Circuit Court handling felony matters. Prior to Fawn’s employment as a Washtenaw County Prosecutor, she worked as private practitioner handling civil law matters for Jason Michael Katz, PC and the Law Offices of Corey D. Silverstein, PC.

An Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, decorated US Army veteran, long-time Washtenaw County resident, and loving mother and wife, Fawn Armstrong embodies all of the qualities needed to effectively serve the people of Washtenaw County. She is a bonafide advocate for fair representation, is committed to justice, and is incredibly passionate about community and will strive to preserve its safety. During her ten years of practicing law in all district courts in the county, Fawn’s passion to give her work meaning and her commitment to stand by her beliefs has only grown stronger. She believes in service tempered by compassion and understanding. She believes in the U.S. Constitution and the rights it affords to the accused. Most of all, she believes in service above self which will guide the discharge of her duties as the next 14A District Court Judge.
